The mission of Shelter Operations is to set up safe sheltering areas
to house and care for rescued animals and animals who's owners have
been displaced durning a disaster or emergency type situation, and
all that it entails. For furthur details on what the Shelter Operations
team does and requirements to be on the team, please see the panel
on the left hand side of this page.
Mission:
The mission of SMART is to provide a timely and effective
response to any intentional or unintentional emergency involving
animals, including but not limited to bioterrorism, agriterrorism,
emerging infectious disease, man-made or natural events.
Goals:
1) Minimize the threats to the health and safety of animals
and humans.
2) Minimize the economic impact of animal emergencies
3) Decrease the spread of disease to animals and humans during any
emergencies
4) Understand the interface between human and animal health
